Control Item Experiment 1 - Using alternative sources of light and energy to attract activity

Hypothesis: Spirits draw upon power sources to manifest activity. If this is correct finding an appropriate and alternative steady source might increase activity.
Examples: drained batteries during investigations and electrical disturbances.

Observations : When touching the sphere the tendrils closest to the point of contact will become denser in appearance. Those dense tendrils will move in the direction of a weak magnetic source (small magnet). If touched with a conductive metal, tendrils closest to the point of contact will also become denser in appearance.

Plasma Sheres:
The gases used in plasma spheres are usually argon, neon and nitrogen, which produce blue, red and white colors. Small variations in gas temperature create warmer areas where the gas conducts current better than the surrounding areas. As the current in a tendril flows through the gas, it heats it. Since warm gas rises, the glowing tendril rises with it. In the case of a finger, you are introducing something that increases the capacitive coupling in one small location. That means that around the area you touched there is a stronger electric field, which means more current can pass through any tendrils that are close to that area. More current means that they glow brighter and tend to be denser in appearance. There is a small pulsating field around the sphere when active that can actually be tested by holding a fluorescent blub close to it.

We chose an area in which previous EVP captures had been made during investigation. Questions would be asked as when gathering EVP and then attempts would be made to have any presence make contact with the sphere itself or the field around it. Hopefully if any EMF is emitted by a spirit and is in close proximity the tendrils should become denser and point to the area of contact.

Findings:

So far there are no photographic or audio captures and it is also notable during the experiment investigators noted a "unusual stillness/quiet". On the last visit the air had a "charged feeling" which was missing this time. While we may repeat this experiement again in the future we consider this to be a negative response.

Control Item Experiment 2- Human Bait

Observations :My impressions of the Human Baiting ..... I started off by asking the normal questions...Is there anyone here, who are you, why are you here..... I stated I wasn't leaving until we had some type of sign. This whole time I felt a male presence in either the room behind me to the right or in front of me to the right. I wasn't sure which room but I knew he was to my right. Fifteen minutes into the experiment the team mate montioring the experiment and also recording asked me to come out of the area. Upon exiting I shined a light on his face. His face was red and he had some tears.... okay a whole lot of tears were flowing. Apparently, what I felt to my right was way right and outside the area. After things settled down I stood behind the video recorder and ask him to follow some commands and we were able to capture some orbs on the video cam doing as I asked.

The Area

We chose an area in which previous EVP captures and positive photos had been made during previous investigations. The area itself was used a a containment area within the facility for disturbed patients or for those that didn't get along with others well. There was a glass partition and door with wire reinforement to control both entry and exit. The main area had two adjoining rooms. Tim set up a chair in the main area between the two rooms. A video recorder with nightshot and a observer with a recorder were stationed outside the glass partition.

Findings:

A number of EVPs were captured and are posted on the Human Bait Experiment page(see link to the right). The most startling capture is when the member asked "What did you do that made them lock you up". A three part reply followed sounding like "murder" six second pause "I killed her" eight second pause then what sounds like a name. The team member watching over the "Bait", Cam and recording had what he termed something that felt like an intrusion. He experienced what he described as waves of pressure, then the involuntary movement of the jaws as if trying to form words. His eyes were also watering profusely which was verifed by sight though he stated there was no pain, burning or sadness involved. It was like your eyes watering after a yawn only extreme. Considering the interaction with the "Bait" in the form of answering the questions and the personal account of an "intrusion", we believe the phenomena in this area to be of a Active rather than Residual nature. We would consider this to be a success in the first stage of proving the hypothesis. The only part left will be to repeat it at another site.

Additional note: Based on the review of audio and video tapes the EVP mentioned above is detected on both devices. Since it was during the time of the intrusion we trying see if it was coming through the team-mate monitoring or from another source since EVPs were also captured before and after the intrusion.

Control Item Experiment 3 Scrying

Hypothesis:
By Scrying one could tune in to the previous events and atmosphere of the area and additionally increase the current activity due to that focus.

Observations:
Progress was hampered by the ability to provide a soft light source and maintain it due to high winds that were entering that floor. The investigator conducting the experiment substituted flashlights as the light source. As the other two investigators observed the experiment during which the conductor was concentrating and gazing into the mirror they noted the atmosphere became heavy. One observer began to see things out of the corner of their eye that resembled a white dress and shoes that would quickly cut into a room. The two observers then diverted their attention down to the east end of the hallway. The wind calmed down for an instant and one saw what appeared like a shadowy mass come across the hall followed by loud crash which sounded like it came from the elevator or glass door area. As the conductor would lose his focus and be unable to find his reflection the atmosphere lost it heaviness.

Scrying:
Scrying has it roots in many ancient civilizations. A reflective medium would be used as the focal point such as crystals, polished bowls filled with water; sometimes even fire or in our case a Scrying mirror with a soft light source. In this facet of it's use, by allowing ones physical eyes to relax and concentrating on the object, one's higher mental abilities are stimulated, allowing the scryer to tap into events outside the present time and glimpse images.

The Area:
The fifth floor was chosen as previous investigations and multiple investigators noted heaviness in the atmosphere at one end of that floor area plus noting feelings of sadness.

Findings:
The results were mixed due to the problems with the light source but the investigators involved did have personal experiences. At this point the results are inconclusive while audio and photographs are being reviewed.
